Music

We are very excited to be on a journey to develop and enrich our Music curriculum at Booker Hill School; we recognise the power of music to bring harmony, community and happiness to our school.

Our Music Curriculum core lessons are designed and taught by a specialist music teacher with every class benefiting from a progressive and expertly taught sequence of learning that develop skills, knowledge and a love of music. Children have opportunities to perform, compose, listen and appraise music both within and beyond the classroom; we are keen to find ways to develop opportunities for exposure to an increasingly wide range of styles and genres for listening as well as ensuring that our curriculum is the best it can be for our children. This is embedded in classroom activities as well as weekly singing assemblies, occasional performances and the learning of instruments.

Peripatetic teachers come into our school to deliver specialised tuition on a range of instruments and children have the opportunity to perform in a variety of different settings such as concerts and assemblies for parents.

Our Year 4 children take part in Young Voices where they take part in ‘the largest children's choir concert in the world!’ The children learn songs in their music lessons in school and then take part in this amazing concert with children from all over the UK.
